Synopsis: Amarilis, old and living in New Orleans, remembers
her husband’s murder during the Parsley Massacre on the border between the
Dominican Republic and Haiti in 1937.
Martha Patterson's 27-story collection "Small Acts of Magic" was published by Finishing Line Press in 2021. She is a playwright, essayist, fiction author, and poet. She has written more than 150 long & short plays, and has been published in anthologies by Pioneer Drama Service, Smith & Kraus / Applause Theatre & Cinema Books, Grattan Street Press, the Sheepshead Review, The Pointed Circle Journal, the Afro-Hispanic Review, In Case of Emergency Press, Silver Birch Press, & others. Her playwriting work has been produced in eight countries and 21 U.S. states. She earned her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.A. from Emerson College, both degrees in Theatre.
